Evening Harvest by Artist Mark Daehlin

November 14th, 2007 · No Comments

Evening Harvest by artist Mark Daehlin is such a  beautiful wildlife and country art print! It encompasses all the facets of what we smell in the fall / autumn air ~ new mown hay, crisp air, a “country” sort of smell that tugs at one’s heartstrings and one’s soul.

This truly gorgeous art print shows us the old family homestead, the farmhouse, in all of it’s evening dinnertime glory ~ lights on, twilight in the air, you can almost smell dinner cooking! Combines in the field taking advantage of the last of the daylight ~ the fields of vegetation ~ both plowed and unplowed, giving the pheasants just enough privacy of their own to enjoy the last of the day’s activities as well.

Here, take a look for yourself:

This is a really fantastic piece of Autumn / Wildlife / Farm Life / Country Life artwork that will be more than happy to grace your home or office, equally at home over the desk or the mantlepiece! Find out more about Evening Harvest by artist Mark Daehlin right here.

Deer and Autumn Just Go Together

November 7th, 2007 · No Comments

Like pancakes and maple syrup……… ah but I digress.

Deer, to me, are a Spring Subject, and a Fall Subject. Spring brings us the little babies, the spotted little fawns, so adorable they can just cause a traffic jam. So wide-eyed, innocent, new, and FULL OF SPOTS.

Fall, or Autumn, brings us majestic racks of antlers on the males, and cozy family sitings of males and their mates, yearlings, and well, you know, that “Deer Family Portrait” look that blends in so magnificently with the autumn foliage.

Direct Artwork has an excellent gallery collection of deer art from some of the most distinguished artists in the business ~ Mary Pettis, Cynthie Fisher, Mark Flenjte, Jim Hansel, Kim Norlien, Jim Rownd, Mark Daehlin, Derk Hansen and Ray Mertes.

And for the purpose of this post, and in honor of crisp autumn evenings, deer families, and fine wildlife art, I leave you with my favorite of them:

Quiet Evening by Mary Pettis ~ just lovely, serene and what autumn and deer are all about.

Just a reminder ~ be sure to place your Holiday Orders with Direct Artwork no later than December 7th, 2007 to ensure timely arrival of your gift of fine art to it’s recipients!!!!

Cynthie Fisher has a knack of bringing the wildlife in her art to life.

An accomplished self taught artist, she is from Hamilton, Montana, and works mostly in acrylic and scratchboard, making good use of her degree in zoology by concentrating on animal behaviors and interactions. Cynthie has painted professionally for 14 years, accumulating many awards along the way to national recognition.

These awards include the 1988 Ohio Duck Stamp, 1991 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Artist of the Quarter, 1992, 1994, 1995, and 1996 Washington Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, 1993 Alaska Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year, 1995 Iowa Duck Stamp Winner, 1995 Alaska Duck Stamp Winner, 1995 Colorado Duck Stamp Winner, and Top Ten in the Federal Duck Stamp Contest three out of four years, including a tie for first place in 1990.

She is one of the 1996 and 1997 Ducks Unlimited National Flyway Artist, the first woman to be chosen for this nationwide award.

Cynthie’s artwork has graced the cover of Cabela’s sporting catalog. She is also a member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists, and exhibits her work in the national art shows nationwide every year.

The Autumn Season and Pheasants

October 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

The autumn season and pheasants go together like a good glass of wine and cheese. The pheasant, magnificent bird that it is, has, in all of the colors of it’s plumage, the colors of autumn ~ magnificent rusts, black, subtle iridescent tones of turquoise, green, blue ~ just like the natural colorings of autumn ~ the season ~ itself.

Pheasants are a truly magnificent, awe inspiring bird to look at, in person. The best way is during a walk in the woods, to see the pheasant in all his or her glory ~ it takes that simple walk in the woods to the level of a walk of unparalleled beauty.

And here, without further ado, are a few of the beautiful and remarkable pieces of artwork we have here at Direct Artwork that celebrate ~ well who else? The pheasant and autumn!

Through The Clearing by Bruce Grayson

October 15th, 2007 · 1 Comment

One of my absolute favorite prints on Direct Artwork is by artist Bruce Grayson.

It is an awe inspiring, almost surreal image of a majestic eagle, the symbol of our great country, soaring through the white pines in a mist filled forest! Another eagle is soaring in the distance, and the smoke from a log cabin chimney can also be seen, equally distant.

Although the print has no connection to the Ramapo Mountains of New Jersey, it gives me a spiritual connection to my well beaten paths in the Ramapo Mountains, and many memories of seeing the eagles flying overhead from nearby Wanaque Reservoir. What a wondrous, deep and majestic moment! So many times I hiked or rock climbed in the mist, dangerous to do, I know, and many times took shelter in the caves of The Tor, where the prehistoric writing is still on the walls. And so many times, climbed above the cloud to survey “the world” at the top!

Ah, but I digress. Here’s Bruce Grayson’s “Through The Clearing”……….

If you would care to find out more about this great awe inspiring print, simply click here.

Of course, you can always visit Direct Artwork and browse our entire gallery of fine oak framed wildlife and nature prints, folk and country art prints, photo memory mats, and much more! See you there!

The Charming Primitive Fine Folk Art of Pat Fischer

October 8th, 2007 · No Comments

Today we’re going to look at some very charming, Americana folk art by artist Pat Fischer.

Pat’s work reflects her pride and love for her country.  Her style brings a visually peaceful retreat to gentler, kinder times and promotes a pleasing image to those who own her prints.  Pat has been concentrating on Americana work since the early 1990’s and acknowledges Rufus Porter as her inspiration for portraying saltbox houses, churches and willow trees.  Porter’s influence began while Pat was living in New Hampshire and doing an independent study of his art.  She, like Porter is self-taught and has had her heart touched by the beauty and peace of New England country scenes.

This one is entitled “Bar Harbor” and evokes a nostalgic heart tug to turn of the century seaside Maine.

Saltbox houses, bucolic farmland, and a flock of our white wooly friends, the sheep! What a wonderful entry way wall hanging this print this would make! You can find Bar Harbor right here.

Next we have a lovely piece of art from Pat entitled “Faith * Family * Farming” and really this charming print speaks for itself……… large family homestead, church in the background, and a “can’t miss” American flag flying outside.

You can see “Faith * Family * Farming” for yourself right here. It’s beautiful and patriotic!

And this whimsical print that follows would definitely win the Blue Ribbon in any country fair! I know the very first time I saw it I did two things at once………. drooled over the cute cows (because I l*o*v*e cows) and I laughed hard out loud!! It’s just so cute, and when you take the name of the print into relevance with what’s depicted on the print, you’ll get a kick out of it too! It seems our fair artist has a very good sense of humor!

Without further ado, here is “I Love A Parade”………..

Find out more about this adorable country farm themed print right here!

Of course you are never limited to just the prints we show off here in the Direct Artwork blog. Visit our sizable gallery of Pat Fischer folk art prints, and feel free to peruse the rest of the Direct Artwork website which is full of unbeatable art work by so many talented artists.
